Help the WSMR Recycles program by breaking down your cardboard boxes before placing them in the recycling trailers. Boxes take up too much empty space in the trailers, which causes them to overfill quickly. Since August 2013, we have diverted almost 34 tons of solid waste from the landfill. With your help, we can continue to increase our diversion rates to meet our 2015 diversion goal of 50 percent.
Every office, break room, copy room, shop and warehouse should have blue recycling containers. If not, contact the Garrison Environmental Division at 678-2225 to arrange pick up of your office or shop containers. Everyone is responsible for taking their recyclables to the nearest blue recycling trailer. Trailers are located at:
1. Theater Parking Lot
2. Building 102 Parking Lot
3. Corner of Martin Luther King and Dyer Street Parking Lot
4. Corner of Crozier and Aberdeen Street Parking Lot
5. 2nd Engineers North East Parking Lot
Full recycling trailers are delivered to Friedman Recycling Center in El Paso by the DPW Roads and Grounds personnel. The trailers are inspected at least twice a week to ensure full trailers are emptied as soon as possible. Please report full recycling trailers by calling 678-2225.
There is no need to separate recyclables. All recyclables can be placed in the same container: paper (office, newspaper, magazines, junk mail, phone books); shredded paper (tied in clear plastic bags); cardboard and paperboard (flattened); all plastics (no food, liquid or tobacco); aluminum and tin cans (no food, liquid or tobacco). Remember to break down your boxes! Direct any questions to Susan Vanhorn or Debbie Hartell at 678-2225.
Your participation in WSMR Recycles is making a difference. Thanks for your continued support!
