Soldier: Col. Brian Michelson
Years in the military: Over 11 years
How has growing up in the military been for you? It’s been kind of interesting, moving to all of those different places and meeting new people. It’s been fun. It can sometimes be hard when you’re leaving, if you’ve lived somewhere for a long time, but once you move and you meet new people it makes you feel better. It’s also nice that you can experience different cultures when you move.
How has living on a military post been? What I like about (it) is you generally have a really safe feeling so you feel really secure and you’re less likely to have a break in. Not living on a military post you have more people and kids to interact with.
What do you like about your dad being a Soldier? He sets a good example for me personally because…he sets the example of helping people through the military. It makes me feel like I need to do my part and help everybody else.
Do you have an appreciation for military families? Yes, for all those people who go out to Iraq and Afghanistan to keep America free.
Why do you think it’s important to celebrate Month of the Military Child? They really do have to go through a lot with their moms or dads leaving for sometimes a year, maybe two. It’s sometimes hard on military children when they don’t have both parents there.
