Though the school year is just around the corner, Child Youth and School services will continue offering a variety of programs for children of all ages until August 8.
To start off, the Child Development Center offers age appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children.
Some of the activities include lessons on nutrition and learning about dinosaurs. The CDC will help kids get a head start before starting school with lessons on numbers, letters, shapes, and colors during the final week of the summer.
CYS Services Youth Sports is offering free football and soccer clinics for youth ages 3-5 and golf and football clinics for kids ages 6-11.
Teens can take advantage of basketball, soccer, and shotgun shooting camps. The Middle School and Teen Program offers daily after camp activities and intramural sports leagues. A basketball league is offered in July, followed by a volleyball league in August.
The SKIES Unlimited program is also offering a variety of activities for the remainder of the summer to include: swimming, scuba, karate, ballet, drama, tutoring, cello, and piano. For more information on SKIES Unlimited classes contact Cindy Grooms at 678-2708.
Several parent-child activities are scheduled for the remainder of the summer. The CDC is hosting a Western Day July 24 where parents can join kids for a variety of western themed activities. CYS Services is having a Super Hero Adventures Day for parents and kids July 22-24 and a Family Fun Day at White Sands National Monument July 26.
Parent participation points are awarded to volunteers and parents attending Parent Participation Opportunities to include: parent article reviews July 14-18 and July 28-31; parent discussion group July 21-25. Parent participation points can be used to receive a 10 percent discount off of their child’s monthly enrollment fee.
Registration costs for the camps vary depending on income categories.
