UNM/NMSU College of Pharmacy
Amy S. Buesing, Director of the UNM/NMSU Cooperative Pharmacy Program, is pleased to announce that Thien-An Vu from White Sands, New Mexico has met the admission criteria and been approved for admission to the UNM College of Pharmacy in August 2015.
The UNM/NMSU Cooperative Pharmacy Program began in 2007 to address the pharmacist shortage in southern New Mexico. This program proactively increases access to pharmacy education for residents of southern New Mexico by offering a collaborative curriculum leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD).
Students apply to the UNM/NMSU Cooperative Pharmacy Program during their senior year of high school. During the NMSU phase, students are required to complete 91 credit hours of pre-pharmacy courses, participate in health-related community service activities, and become familiar with pharmacy practice in their home and surrounding communities in southern New Mexico.
Thien-An Vu is the daughter of C.V. Vu and Daisy Vu. She graduated from On᷉ate High School in 2012 and attended NMSU during 2012 – 2015. Thien-An was a recipient of the NMSU Honors Excel Scholarship, an active member of the NMSU Pre-Pharmacy Society and a member of the NMSU Society of Astronomy Students. She served as Sergeant-at-Arms for the NMSU Rotaract Club and is a member of the Venturing Crew 385. In addition, Thien-An is also a certified pharmacy technician.
Thien-An will be recognized at the White Coat Ceremony in August 2015 as a student of the UNM PharmD Class of 2019.
