White Sands School held a National Geography Bee Nov. 20. The 2015-2016 National Geography Bee Winners from White Sands Elementary are as follows: Pictured left to right 2nd place winner Anika Ceniceros, 8th grade, 1st place winner Christian Ramirez, 8th grade, and 3rd place winner Jennifer Davis, 6th grade.
The 1st place winner will take an online exam to see if he places in the top 100 for the state of New Mexico. If he does, he will go to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the state competition and then on to Washington, DC for Nationals. He could win up to $50,000 in college scholarships and many more prizes.
A special thanks to Dr. Christopher Brown from The College of Geography at New Mexico State University, his students Ryan Blickem, Chad Martin, and Brian Richardson for conducting the Bee.
The Parent Teacher Association provided students with snacks and drinks and the awards.
