Geneva Chavez works as a program assistant for the Directorate of Public Works. She joined the Wellness Program in early December 2015. The program allows her three excused hours a week at the gym for up to 90 days. Chavez will complete the program in May.
What made you want to join the Wellness Program?
I was looking at getting fit and having a more healthy lifestyle and I heard about the Wellness Program. It was perfect, it was exactly what I was looking for.
What results have you seen?
I have more energy overall and better health and fitness. I have a more positive attitude.
Who would you recommend this program to?
I recommended it to several of our colleagues and co-workers.
How do you feel about the leadership taking interest in their employee’s health?
I like the support that we get. I wish we had more than 90 hours. I wish we could continue with three hours per week, of course it is limited to your workload.
What are some of the things you like to do now that you didn’t have an interest in before?
I like the high interval training that we’ve been doing. I’m seeing more results with that. We started in December so I haven’t been able to do too many outdoor activities but I am looking forward to hiking whenever it gets warmer.
Do you think there’s more the leadership could do to help develop the program further?
I like having three hours per week. I wish we could extend that to go past the 90 hours total that the Wellness Program provides.
How satisfied are you with the program?
I’m very satisfied. I love the support the program provides with the workout prescriptions that they give us. They help keep us accountable.
