The Army Emergency Relief‘s 2016 Campaign is now underway and the theme for this year’s campaign is “Never Leave a Soldier Behind”.
For the past 74 years, AER has clearly made a difference in enhancing the readiness and relieving the distress of Soldiers and their families. Last year alone, AER provided over $70 million in interest free loans and grants to more than 48,000 Soldiers.
“AER is one of the critical ways which we as an Army Family can come together and support each other,” said White Sands Missile Range Commander Brig. Gen. Timothy Coffin. “When a Soldier falls down, AER gives us the ability to pick them up and get them back on their feet. I really appreciate everyone’s attention in giving everyone the opportunity to contribute to this worthwhile program.”
According to Andrew Lucht, Installation AER officer, locally AER provided $78,556.73 in interest free loans and grants to fifty-six Soldiers last year. AER is truly a lifeline that enables the Army to “Never Leave a Soldier Behind” that is facing an unexpected financial emergency.
“AER is there in a Soldiers time of financial need,” Lucht said.
