Evening clinics at Holloman Air Force Base Veterinary Treatment Facility are now available for White Sands Missile Range clients.
The Holloman Air Force Base Veterinary Treatment Facility will have evening clinics until 7 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month. The first clinic will be held June 15 and the following one will be July 20. Subsequent clinics will follow the third Wednesday of the month rule unless specified with reasonable advance notice.
Appointments for WSMR clients are held during the evening hours. The reception staff has been instructed to keep those slots available for those clients who identify on the phone as traveling from WSMR. The slots will be held open until 24 hours prior to the clinic date (i.e. Tuesday afternoon).
This is to ensure that there are no unfilled appointment slots. After that, if there are appointment requests from WSMR clients, the clinic will accommodate them but cannot ensure a time slot (i.e. they will be served after clients with appointments if they request services less than 24 hour in advance).
Note that prior to making appointments for the evening clinic or any other time, clients will have to register their pets with the VTF. They can do so by calling the front desk at (575) 572-3303 or by emailing Cari Hall, the operations assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will provide a registration form via email for prospective clients to fill out and return. Note that because at this time the clinic only has one phone line to the front desk, clients may need to leave a message. The reception team returns calls promptly.
Holloman VTF policy is to request a minimum of 24 hours notice for appointment cancellation or rescheduling. Clients who miss an appointment will receive a copy of the no-show policy in writing. Clients who miss more than two appointments (an appointment on one day for two pets is considered two appointments) will no longer be eligible for services. Another notable clinic policy is that an owner may bring a maximum of two pets to the clinic at one time.
Also note that only active duty military, dependents with IDs, and retirees are authorized service at DoD veterinary facilities (DoD civilians, including GS, NAF, and contractors, are not authorized services). Clients will need to present their CAC with “Uniformed Services” designation at their visit to ensure eligibility.
HAFB VTF is always happy to see WSMR clients during regular hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
