The Family Morale Welfare and Recreation Directorate will be implementing major changes across the directorate at the end of this fiscal year, due to severe fiscal cutbacks from within the Department of the Army.
Several of FMWR facilities will no longer be economically sustainable from these cutbacks and the directorate has had to make some very painful cuts in services and facilities.
As a result, the following changes will go into effective at or near the end of our fiscal year on Sept. 30.
—The Café, formerly known as the Italian Cafe, located inside the Community Center will be ceasing operations effective Oct. 1.
—The White Sands Golf Course will be ceasing operations Nov. 15.
—Auto Skills Center will be reducing hours of operation effective Oct. 1. The new hours of operation will be: Tuesday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
These were difficult decisions, to say the least, because of the huge impact they have on not only our dedicated and professional employees, but on the community and workforce that we serve.
To all of our customers, we understand that these decisions will disappoint and upset many here at WSMR, however FMWR is committed to continue to strive to provide quality services and products to our customers to the best of our abilities.
Roadrunner Lanes Operational Hours Change
Roadrunner Lanes will be changing their operational hours at the beginning of September. Effective Sept. 1 the new operational hours at Roadrunner Lanes will be Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays.
Roadrunner Lanes will still have active-league bowling this fall through spring and will make operational adjustments on evenings the facility is hosting league and/or tournament play, on a case by case basis.
