White Sands Missile Range welcomes Capt. Jason Bryant. Bryant will be commanding the 3-6 Patriot Test Detachment in support of various missile and systems tests at WSMR.
How long have you been in the Army?
I have been in the Army 19 years.
Where are you from, and where is home for you?
I’m from Little Rock, Arkansas, and that’s where I call home.
Who are your Family members?
My wife Elizabeth, my son Nathanial and my father Russel
When you were younger, what did you aspire to be?
I wanted to be an architect.
What lead you to the Army?
I’ve always had a passion to lead and serve the country. It’s one of the things I’ve always wanted to do, so I figured I’d go for it.
What have you learned from previous leadership roles?
You’re always learning. You always see the goods and you see the bads, and need to find ways to improve. It’s about growth.
What do you and you family like to do for fun?
We like to travel. We really enjoy a lot of family time; reading books, watching movies together and traveling to various parts of the world and exploring the local community.
What do you personally like to do for fun?
Scuba diving! I actually got to dive in Majorca, Spain, very beautiful.
What do you think about coming to WSMR?
I’m really excited, it’s a very small community which is similar to Baumholder, Germany, which is where we just came from. It’s a nice small community and I really enjoy that feel, we’ve felt very welcome here.
What do you hope to accomplish here?
I want to complete a successful command, and help shape and influence the Air Defense branch and the direction we want to go with the systems we have and the future systems we’re testing.
