Western Night coming
The White Sands Club will hold its annual Western Night on March 2 at the Frontier Club. There will be entertainment, gambling, food and Can Can dancers.

The club is looking for ladies that like to dance to become Can

Wanted: Boss President
BOSS is looking for a single service member interested in being the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers President. The president will plan, preside and facilitate over the BOSS meetings, ensure meeting minutes, attendance figures are prepared for approval. Ensure an installation ledger of BOSS revenues and expenses are maintained. Provide information and education on the BOSS program, coordinate recreation, community service and fundraising events with the assistance of the other BOSS committee members.

Post library hours change
Effective Jan. 16 the Post Library has new hours of operation. The Library is open Thursday thru Sunday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and is closed Monday thru Wednesday, Federal Holidays, and for mandatory training.

War Road repair
War Road Phase IV has been awarded and will be the last phase completing the War Road repair.

Anticipated activity for the immediate future involves the commencement of the final 4.8 mile stretch of highway. War Road Phase IV construction should begin in February 2012. There is a remote possible that work affecting traffic could begin as early as Monday February 6, 2012. Please be alert to conditions in the work zone, and observe all signs flagmen, and other safety features. A new sign identifying the project is at the south end on the project.

Again, it will be necessary to employ temporary “no passing” zones and reduce highway traffic to one lane as necessary. Work area changes from day to day along the total length of the road should be expected.

It is requested that posted speed limitations and detour signs be observed when posted. Also, there will be a request to watch for construction vehicles, personnel, and other equipment.

Dance Program

Teen Parent Youth Advisory
The CYS Services Middle and Teen (MST) Program would like input to our program!! On Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m., we will be having a Parent Youth Advisory Council (PYAC) Meeting in the White Sands School Library. PYAC is a group of teens, parents, community members, and CYS Services staff working together to create the very best opportunities for Middle School and Teens here at White Sands. Join us to find out what is new and what is coming up in the MST Program. We would also love to have your suggestions and feedback. Family Fun Day
Come and spend an afternoon Ice Skating in El Paso with your family and CYS Services. CYS Services will treat you and your family to CICI’s Pizza after skating. Cost is $6 for military and $8 for civilians. For additional information and to reserve your space on the bus call 678-7093.

Family Archery Night
Come and join CYS Services for a Family Archery Night on Feb. 9 from 3-6 p.m. You may bring your own equipment, however, we will have equipment available for you to use. Certified 4-H Shooting Instructors will be on hand to teach families all about the shooting sport of archery.

Spring Tutoring Program
Let CYS Services Spring Tutoring Program helps your child catch up, stay up and get ahead on their academics. Student will meet once a week with instructors for 45 minutes. Parent Advisory Group

NARFE meeting
National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 182 will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Columbus Conference Center, Days Inn Suites & Mesilla Valley Conference Center on Feb. 11. Richard Williams, the Chief of the Las Cruces Police Department will be our guest speaker. All current and retired Federal employees are encouraged to attend the meeting and become part of the group. AAUW meeting
The Las Cruces Branch of the American Association of University Women will meet on Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Hospital, Community Education Room. Dr. Cynthia Bejarano, NMSU Professor, will present, “Sagragrio Sigue Viviendo: Bearing Witness and Resistance to Border Violence in Chihuahua, Mexico.” The meeting is free and open to the public. Pet adoptions Feb. 4
The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley will conduct two off-site pet adoption events on Feb. 4. Available for adoption will be dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.

Adoptions will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Las Cruces. Dogs available for adoption will be located at the north end of the mall. Cats can be adopted from the offices of the Southwest Environmental Center just north of the Rio Grandé Theater.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., adoptions also will be facilitated at the Las Cruces Convention Center at the corner of University Avenue and Union Street.

Adoption fees are $75 for dogs/ puppies and $50 for cats/kittens. The fee includes the first set of vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchip.

MLK Avenue traffic
Beginning Jan. 20 Traffic Control signage will be placed for road reconstruction of Martin Luther King Avenue from Hughes Avenue to Headquarters Avenue. Detours will be clearly marked. War Road speed limit
Effective now, the speed limit on War Road, Fort Bliss side only, has increased to 65 mph and the signs are in place. Please note that this change is only on the Fort Bliss side so please pay attention and obey the different speed limit signs.

National Prayer Breakfast
The White Sands Missile Range Post Chapel is hosting the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast Feb. 6 at 7:30 a.m. This year's theme is "The Way Forward." Please join us for a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, hash browns and Danish as you listen to the inspirational words of our guest speaker, Chaplain (COL) Harry Rauch, ATEC Chaplain. We request a donation of $7 for civilians and E-7 and above; $4 for E-6 and below.
